First Love

He

I don’t know is it a good memory or not.  Actually, it has no explanation about the happiness or sadness for me.  I don’t know how can I narrate the incident.  I meet him "Vellore" basically it is in the Madras, India.  He is the main character of my story.

At  that time my mother was under the treatment in C.M.C. hospital.   Though I was new comer in the city,  I was excited & as well as tense about my mother treatment.   It was just a mix feeling for me . For the easiest communication purposes we were living in a hotel which was just in front of the hospital. There are lots of Bangladeshi lives in that place. This hospital is very well known to the Bangladeshi people.  I was going through very busy life due to my mothers cheek-up & reports.  One day I felt that someone was following me.  the next few days I noticed the same.  There is this guy just following me around. At first I was scared but then it begun to be normal for me.  He never said a word but just followed me.  One day I decided to talk to him, but I was not in my native land, so I backed up.  Talking to him probably not a good idea. After all I am a stranger in that place. Beside that, I was not sure what kind of person he might be, what nationality or language he would speak.  After few days I was accustomed with that situation.

One day I was shopping in front of the hotel. Suddenly, someone asked me that am I Bangladeshi?  Guess what, there he was the stranger, who have been following me for last few days.  With his question I realized for sure he is from Bangladesh.  I shake my head in reply.  We started talking.  He was from Chittagong.  A good looking man with pleasant appearance.  I got to know his relatives & I also introduced him with my mother. We became friend within a very short time.

We have talked to each other almost everyday.  He was a very gentleman to me.  He gave me the respect all the time.  Few days its was just wonderful and lots of fun.  We talked about things about life. He was funny and caring too.

By this time, my mom's scheduled treatment time almost over. We have to get back to Bangladesh. One day he asked me, "do you know why I was following you"?  At that day I knew that what he wanted to know.  I smiled and did not reply to his question.  I understood his inner feeling but could not say a word.

Finally, the day came to go back.  We went to the train station.  I sat by the window.   Suddenly, I saw him standing on the platform.  He walked close to my window and asked me again, "did your know why I was following you everyday"?  I told him yes I did.  I also said that he was so kind and nice to me all those days. But unfortunately I was engaged with someone else.  He could not believe me and told me that I was lying.  To be honest I was.  I don't know why.   Train started...he walked along the side of the train and told me you can't forget me...you will be there - he pointed his finger to his heart.

He stopped walking ...and slowly he faded away.  That's the last time I have ever seen him.
