What is diabetes?
Most of the food we eat is turned into glucose, or
sugar, for our bodies to use for energy. The pancreas, an organ that lies near the
stomach, makes a hormone called insulin to help glucose get into the cells of our bodies.
When you have diabetes, your body either doesn't make enough insulin or can't use its own
insulin as well as it should. This causes sugars to build up in your blood.more..

Cholera is an acute, diarrheal illness caused by infection of the intestine with the
bacteria Vibrio cholerae. The infection is often mild or without symptoms, but
sometimes it can be severe. Approximately one in 20 infected persons has severe disease
characterized by profuse watery diarrhea, vomiting, and leg cramps. In these persons,
rapid loss of body fluids leads to dehydration and shock. Without treatment, death can
occur within hours.more.. |
