Is he finished ? Or worn out?  Yes, we are talking about Ferdous,the new sensation of the tinsel town.  Perhaps, it is time to think about his real achievement in Dhallywood.

After the release of “Hotath brishti” image of Ferdous sky-rocketed and he became a popular actor in Bangladesh and west Bengal.  The Romantic image he created through this movie was highly appreciated by the movie-goers of the country. Producers rushed to have him in their movies. Besides, he started to perform in Indian Ventures simultaneously and became popular as well. But all his movies that were released in Bangladesh miserably failed.

On the contrary , his Indian releases have done tremendously well, already Ferdous is being cast
in a Bollywood movie with Preity Zeenta.

Film piracy in Dhallywood

It is now an open secret that some cinema hall owners illegally supplies copies of Bengali feature films to the local VCD clubs which are known as “camera prints”. The whole industry knows it. The film producers have time & again complained about it to the concerned authorities but in vain! The business of the pirated films continues unchecked.

It was two or three days before the release of a film- police suddenly seized some pirated copies of it from some VCD rental clubs. Soon the whole industry became agitated. the film artistes including producers, directors, actors and actresses came out in processions demanding exemplary punishment of those responsible for it. Polices arrested a few, including the owner of lava film. But the main culprits are still at large.

 So , how did it happen? How did the reels of the film get out to the market even before it was released? The cinema hall owners did not commit it. Then? The finger is being pointed at two different places from where the copies of the film could be released. The FDC and the film censor Board. These are the only places where copies of this move were available.

The Oscar Night

The annual Academy Award popularly known as Oscar will be awarded on March 25.2001. The ceremony of the Academy of motion picture Arts and sciences awards,or the Oscar night, was first held in 1928. At the time,hollywood’s main intention was to boost its image through this function. But later it became the ultimate symbol of Hoolywood glomour.

The first movie that won the Oscar was all Quiet On the western front.This year five movies have been nominated for Oscar.Among them Gladiator got , Gladiator got eleven nominations in various categories. 

Tom hanks got his fourth nomination for his superb role in cast Away. This Taented actor already has two Oscars to his credit.

 Russel Crowe is another contender of this award for his performance in Gladitor. 

Julia reberts’ Erin Brokovich also got the Academy’s nomination both in Best film and Best actress categories

Now everybody is eagerly waiting for those awords of the Oscar announcers_ “and the award goes to”.
